CHOOSING A HAMMOCK
Hammocks mean many things to many people: back glider, comfort, doing nothing,easy-does-it, horizontal recreation, leisure, me-myself & I, my world,parallel aerobics, procrastinating manager, R&R machine, relax, rest, rock &roll cradle, twine-time, yacht-liner, zone-outer; BUT TRUTHFULLY & HONESTLY, Hammocks have but one job to perform during their lifetime- - - - “anti-stress-relaxation “.
For the novice person, (novice sounds so much softer than ‘beginner’) choosing a hammock can seem like an impossible task. Really it is not. Follow a few simple rules or guidelines and things will fall into place. Be honest with yourself when you quiz yourself on answering the guideline questions. Write down your answers
1) Location of the hammock.(Indoors or Outdoors)
2) If indoors, is the hammock to be used as permanent-set-up
furniture.
3) If indoors, hammocks need sufficient ‘sway’ room on a stand.
4) If outdoors, is the hammock to be used as permanent lounging.
5) If outdoors, is the hammock for a precise location,
e.g. between trees, in a stand.
6) If outdoors, could this hammock need to be used for camping &
hiking
7) If outdoors, will usage be warm months or cool(er) months
included.
8) Who will be the primary user(s). (width & length)
9) The maximum people that may be on at the same time.
(weight capacity)
10) Maintenance; will hammock sleep outside until cold season arrives.
11) Maintenance; do you want low/high seasonal normal care.
12) Type of material; cloth, cord or string.
13) Your budget.
